Archimedes' Lever Initiative

Give me a place to stand, and I shall move the world

We give students a place to stand, and the tools to move theirs.

Our mission

Exposure early is leverage for life.

Most students pick their high school path before they have ever seen what a real career looks like. Archimedes' Lever changes that. We give Grade 7 and 8 students real exposure to five professional fields, the soft skills to thrive, and a challenge that rewards the ones who lean in.

Explore

Five fields to discover

Tap a field to learn what it is and why it is exciting.

Engineering is the art of turning ideas into real things, from bridges and robots to apps and rockets. Students see how engineers solve problems that matter and build the future with their hands and their minds.

Life sciences explore how living things work, from tiny cells to whole ecosystems. Students discover the careers behind medicine, research, and protecting the planet, and why curiosity is the real superpower.

Entrepreneurship is about spotting a problem and building something that solves it. Students learn how an idea becomes a real venture, and what it takes to lead, take risks, and keep going.

The creative arts turn imagination into work people feel, from design and music to film and storytelling. Students see how creativity becomes a real and rewarding career, not just a hobby.

Economics is the study of how people, money, and choices shape the world. Students learn how markets work and how thoughtful decisions can create real impact for a whole community.

The journey

Watch the lever come together

Every stage adds a piece, until one student tips the whole world.

Give it a scroll

1 The fulcrum

Soft skills, the steady base

Our student volunteers visit each class, one at a time, for an in person soft skills workshop. It is the firm ground every great career stands on.

  • An interactive intro to soft skills
  • A small group problem solving challenge
  • A debrief that connects it to the real workplace
  • A curveball twist, then a short personal reflection

2 The beam

The panel, five real voices

A live virtual panel brings together five professionals, one per field. Each speaks for about ten minutes, followed by questions, for about an hour in total. We warm students up with hands on games before the call so everyone arrives ready to engage.

3 The effort

The challenge, where it counts

A supervised in class written report lets interested students rank their top fields and respond to prompts, ending with a mini version of the final challenge. The strongest students advance.

4 The finale

The lever tips, the world moves

An in person innovation competition at a community venue, with field stations, hands on activities, volunteer judges from the community, awards and certificates, and snacks. This is where one student moves the world.
